Students to not attend school if they are unwell (COVID-19 Update)

  • Students must not attend school if they are unwell. This includes even minor flu symptoms.

  • If students are absent or have been sent home due to flu-like symptoms, they are not to return until they have a negative COVID-19 test and are symptom-free.

  • Schools must sight the negative COVID-19 test result prior to allowing students to return to school i.e. NSW Health or COVID-19 Testing Centre correspondence (SMS or email or hard copy) and/or a medical certificate must be provided to the school and a record of this kept by the school.

  • Where a school has difficulty obtaining a COVID-19 test result, for example where a parent/carer is unwilling to allow their child to undertake a COVID-19 test or provide the school with a negative COVID-19 test result, the student is to be excluded from school for a 10 day period. Additionally, the student must be symptom-free for at least 3 days before returning to school.

  • COVID-19 testing for students with complex health or disability may be challenging. In these situations, schools are to ask the parent/carer to have their child assessed by their medical practitioner. Where a medical practitioner determines that a COVID-19 test is not required, a medical certificate must be provided to the school to confirm that the student does not have symptoms that warrant a COVID-19 test. The certificate must also indicate that the student is able to return to the school environment.

For any further information please contact the school during school hours on (02) 4560 2900 or send us an email.
