Our Silver Duke of Edinburgh students in the Wild Dog Mountains, accompanied by Mr Windon, Mr Kneller and Miss Marshall.
They left on Thursday and return home today. The walk isn’t easy but these views certainly make it worth it!

Year 11 Agriculture student, Mikayla Connor, has had a long desire to become a large animal veterinarian. The course required is offered by Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga and demands six years of full-time study. To be considered for entry to the course, students need to achieve an ATAR of 90 or above in their final HSC exams, complete an interview at CSU and undertake a significant amount of relevant industry experience, with a variety of animals. Mikayla has embraced the acquisition of industry experience this year by completing a one-week block at both a dairy farm in Nowra and a Boer goat stud at Eugowra, fortnightly work at a local alpaca farm, and with Dr. Rob Zammit at the Vineyard Vet. During the upcoming holidays, she is completing a one-week block with the Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre. We would like to acknowledge the dedication and efforts that Mikayla has shown so far and we wish her well as we continue to work closely with her to help her achieve her career ambitions. We would also like to thank Dr. Rob Zammit from the Vineyard Vet and Miss Tess Bailey, Royal Agricultural Society of NSW 2018 Rural Achiever and owner of the Lachlan Valley Vet in Forbes, for their expertise and guidance offered to Bede Polding College and Mikayla. - Andrew Heath, Bede Polding Agriculture Teacher

🐄 On Saturday, the Ag Show Team represented the College at the Camden Agricultural Expo. The students, from years 7 to 10, took home a swag of ribbons, as well as some lucerne chaff and bales of hay in prizes! Some highlights of the day were the alpaca parading, the Young Farmers Challenge and personal bests by students in cattle parading. Congratulations to the team, and thank you to Mrs Krix for her guidance! 👏👏👏

Last Friday night saw the presentation for the inaugural Greater Sydney Schools Cattle Competition at Carloline Chisolm in Glenmore Park. The Bede Polding Cattle Team attended the evening in which teams were awarded for a number of categories, ranging from the preparation of the steer, parading, judging of cattle, weight gain and the quality of the carcass. Bede Polding College performed well across many of the categories, with multiple ribbons awarded to the team. Year 8 student, Riley Gauchi, was also awarded the trophy for ‘Champion Junior Parader’. Great thanks goes to Mrs Krix who expertly trained the Bede Polding Team whilst they developed their skills in cattle showmanship.

Well done to the U/16s Rugby League team, who competed in the Panther Trophy today. The team played extremely well throughout the day, winning their pool. Unfortunately, they were beaten in the semi-finals, but it was a great effort overall from the boys! 🏉

Today is R U OK? Day. It is an annual reminder of the importance of checking in with those around us and starting conversations that could change a life, not just today but any day. 💛 Year 10 held a bake sale at recess and lunch to raise money for the R U OK? Charity and they managed to raise over $1000 for this great cause! 👏🏼
