Bede Polding College Windsor’s Creative Arts Department is presenting A Midsummer Musical, a contemporary rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare, featuring hit songs from the 80s.
It will be on show from Thursday September 19 until Saturday September 21 at 7pm.
This musical has been a long time coming for the school, which last presented a performance in 2013. Bede’s drama teacher and musical director Ashlee Thurling said the enthusiasm and dedication of staff and students have made for a very enjoyable journey.
“I have had the absolute pleasure watching our drama students refine character, blocking and intentions within improving their own confidence,’’ Mrs Thurling said.
“The music students have greatly improved their technical ability and have learnt to appreciate the camaraderie required in being part of an ensemble. The art students have shown great ownership in their design task, engaging in a positive way to develop their art making skills and make informed decisions confidently.’’
“Overall, the countless hours spent rehearsing, singing, dancing, building and painting is a shining example of the hard work this community has given to the collective creative goal,’’ Mrs Thurling said.
Students from Year 9 to Year 12 are featured in the cast, while the musicians come from Year 8 and Year 10, the design team is from Year 10 and the backstage crew featured students from Year 7 to Year 11.

🎉 At our College Assembly yesterday we celebrated Harmony Day! This was a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate the diversity of backgrounds and cultures in our community. Students were encouraged to wear orange, or elements of traditional cultural dress, and we enjoyed our second annual 'Cultural Cooking Competition' during the Assembly, with both staff and student contributions. Congratulations to Year 7 student Mariah Saliba, for her outstanding Maltese Almond Biscuits! 👏👏👏

👩⚕️🧑⚕️ Today we hosted our first BPC Careers Breakfast for students from Years 9-12, with a spotlight on the Healthcare Industry. We were both delighted and honoured to welcome back 7 alumni students from the College who have all followed different pathways to take up a variety of incredibly successful roles in healthcare. Our speakers included a Registered Nurse, Doctor, Paramedic, Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Paediatric Nurse and a Dermatology Nurse. Students and parents gained valuable insights and were inspired with stories of direct and alternate pathways, as well as career success post-school. We would like to thank Laura, Hannah, Mitchell, Phillip, Monica, Michelle and Brad for donating their time and sharing their stories with our community - we are so grateful for your investment and input. 👏👏👏 We look forward to hosting the next BPC Careers Breakfast in Term 2 - All About Apprenticeships! #bpcpathways

🚶♀️🚶Good Friday Night Walk! Last Friday evening, Mr Aure, Miss Samson, Ms Fitzpatrick and some of our students attended the Good Friday Night Walk with Catholic Youth Parramatta. This was a great opportunity to journey as pilgrims from St Patrick's Church, Blacktown to St Patrick's Cathedral, Parramatta with 1200 young people from around the Parramatta Diocese, remembering the sacrifice and love Jesus demonstrated to us at his crucifixion. "He was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities" (Is 53:5 )🙏✝

✝ Our Easter Liturgy, held today in the Good Samaritan Hall, was an opportunity for us as a College, to reflect on the love and sacrifice Jesus demonstrated to us. This powerful, student-led presentation involved student musicians, artists, actors and actresses presenting the Stations of the Cross in a wonderful cross-faculty collaboration.
